Just about everyone has a digital camera these days but most don’t know how to use it to its full potential. Did you know that digital cameras can easily shoot videos it as well as taking pictures? You can make videos of family holidays or capture your travels so you can keep them and watch them any time later on. Christmas is especially huge favorite holiday for making videos with a digital camera.
If you’re not sure whether or not your digital camera can take video clips as well as photos, check the size of your memory card. Usually what it amounts to is the bigger the memory card the better your chance of capturing videos along with your photos. It’s not difficult to create videos with your camera at all, all you need to do is hold your hand steady and focus on the people you want to capture with the camera. There are a few tips however that you need to be aware of to get the most out of your camera’s video capabilities.
If you can, use a tripod. This is a must unless you actually have to walk around with the camera. The tripod is helpful in stabilizing the image and your hand. Of course a tripod is also necessary in taking pictures as well, so you definitely need to have one around with your camera. Some considerations about choosing a tripod can be found

You need to make sure that there is plenty of light when you capture the video. If it’s too dark in the area where you are shooting your video, it will probably be grainy with lots of noise. Also make sure to record a longer video than what you want to capture because many times it happens that due to shaky hands the beginning or the end of the video, these parts actually need to be deleted from the film.
When taking pictures of people, you need to add a little extra space to allow for their heads to be in full view. Many beginners share the mistake of cutting off parts of their subject’s heads from the actual film. Another good idea is to try and avoid zooming in and out very much because using the zoom button sometimes causes camera shake and it tends to show when reviewing your film.
